eight countries. For the last 40 years, Karim has developed, invested, financed,
brokered, managed, and consulted for real estate properties across the globe. He
made his first million by the age of 26 by buying and renovating distressed
properties and businesses. Since then, his offices have handled over $20 billion
in real estate transactions.
Karim’s investments have included a wide range of real estate assets:
single-family homes, condo projects, apartment buildings, shopping centers,
commercial and industrial buildings, hotels, undeveloped land, and mixed-use and
special-use properties. In 1984, Karim became the first investor and developer
to convert an industrial building in downtown Los Angeles into artist lofts – a
strategy that has become a multi-billion dollar trend since that first project.
